Upon the completion of this activity the participant should be able to:
  • Understand the assets and liabilities of venous surgery in the office.
  • Use ultrasound to diagnose and manage venous disease.
  • Diagnose and manage deep vein thrombosis and hypercoagulable states.
  • Describe endovenous (thermal, chemical and surgical) modalities for closure of the refluxing saphenous vein.
  • Describe the eradication of secondary venous clusters with phlebectomy, foam sclerotherapy, or surgical devices.
  • Manage incompetent perforating veins and venous ulcers in the office.
  • Manage spider telangiectasias with sclerotherapy and cutaneous laser.
  • Develop a business model for the office-based vein practice.
  • Incorporate modern cosmetic enhancements into a vein practice (Botox, Restylane, and photorejuvenation).
